Hey there! I'm Jacob Oliver, a 22-year-old filmmaker based in Savannah, Georgia. I grew up in Niceville, Florida, and discovered my love for producing videos in my freshman year of high school. I have a lot of skills, ranging from motion graphics to visual effects, but I consider myself primarily a video editor. My editing program of choice is Adobe Premiere, but I love experimenting with new software whenever I get the chance. When I'm not editing, I like to try my hand at writing and directing. Ever since I was young, I've crafted fantastical stories in my head and on the page, and in film, I've found a medium through which I can express myself in a more complete way than I'd ever dreamed possible.
You’ve got stuff in your head that no one else has got.
And you’ve got stuff in your head that you think you bear alone, but I PROMISE you share with so many.
Only way to know the difference is to spill it out.
On paper, into a mic, to a shrink, onto a canvas.
~Lin Manuel Miranda
I believe that people with a truly creative soul shouldn't have to ignore their aspirations because it's not a profitable or viable career path. I also believe that it's this portrayal of creative careers as a pipe-dream that leads a lot of people to live their lives in a way that leaves them depressed and unfulfilled. My greatest goal in life is to inspire youths and adults alike to follow their creative passions, however trivial they may seem, and bring about an age where creative self-expression is the norm, and not the exception.
